The Reason Why Apple May Discontinue iPhone 5c

Apple tried something different in 2013, but instead of listening to consumers and making their screens bigger, Apple introduced a budget iPhone – the iPhone 5c. The Cupertino based company isn’t really one to admit defeat but you could say the the iPhone 5c is an exception. Tim Cook has admitted in the past that the phone has not met sales expectations in 2013 which left Apple with a ton of inventory. Is it the end of the road for the iPhone 5c?
With so much unsold inventory it could be safe to to admit that the iPhone 5c has reached the end of its lifecycle. The Industrial and Commercial Times in Taiwan is already stating that Apple will end production of the iPhone 5c by the middle of 2015. The crux of this argument is primarily based on Apple shifting focus with its suppliers Foxconn and Wistron from the likes of the 5c to the newer generation iPhones.
The fact is the iPhone 5c just isn’t contributing to the company’s bottom line. Apple considering a shift in focus kind of points to the excess stock of units but you will likely still see the iPhone 5c selling until all of the excess stock has been moved. Apple’s current line-up includes the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.  It’s hard to tell just how bad the iPhone 5c is selling, but we can assume it’s not a pretty picture.
