The holiday was supposed to be a dream come true for Lindsey and Gareth, a couple who wanted to enjoy life to its fullness all alone until they met a teenager called Sophie.
The couple was relaxing at a luxury Egyptian resort for 10 days after they had saved for a year and Sophie was the temptation that attracted Gareth by a pool.
“We were so excited before we went – we couldn’t wait to spend time together,” recalls Lindsey.
“But less than a month after we got back he’d dumped me, moved out and shacked up with Sophie, the teenage girl we’d befriended on holiday.”
“I thought she was a lovely girl – obviously so did Gareth,” says Lindsey. “They seemed to hit it off but she was so young I didn’t think for a second she was any threat to my marriage.
“We’d lark around by the pool and enjoy meals and karaoke nights. But then everything changed.”
Lindsey recalls: “I first noticed something was up when Sophie had an argument with her pal – but it soon settled down. Then Gareth started behaving oddly.
"One day, as I got in the pool, he got out at the same time as Sophie. They’d been splashing around having fun and he didn’t seem to want to be with me.
That was how the affair started and when the holiday was over, their marriage was already history in his mind.
