Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 is a powerhouse of a phablet, and depending on the regional variant you have, it’s running either an Exynos 7 Octa or a Snapdragon 805. Earlier this week we saw a rumour that claimed Samsung could already be working on another hardware revision of the Note 4, one that would ditch that 805 for a next-gen Snapdragon 810 SoC.
The device in question is described as Samsung model SM-N916S. The original Note 4 represents the SM-N910 series, while the Note Edge is SM-N915 – so N916 for the next hardware refresh is sensible enough (and the S suffix indicates it’s for South Korea). The benchmark data clearly identifies the handset’s SoC as an MSM8994 – that’s the Snapdragon 810, sure as sugar; no extrapolating based on GPU here.
It also looks like this model is going to stick with 3GB of RAM. That’s not really surprising, but if you were holding out hope that a 64-bit chip like the 810 might give Samsung an excuse to really run wild with RAM, well, keep wishing.
Ultimately, even if this updated Note 4 does materialize, it’s not likely to ever come to the West – but that doesn’t mean we won’t be lusting after it, all the same.
