The soul singer’s video for You & I (Nobody in the World) features a range of women: from his supermodel wife, Chrissy Teigen to the amazing transgender actress Laverne Cox.
John Legend makes really beautiful music, and this song is no exception. Called You & I (Nobody in the World), it starts with John sitting on a bed watching his wife as she gets ready for a night out, looking into the camera as if it’s a mirror.
The video then cuts to other women and girls applying lipstick, trying on a new shirt, or getting their ears pierced. The sadness in the eyes of some of these women is heartbreaking, especially with John singing “You were fine in my eyes, a half an hour ago.”
It’s certainly trying to do it’s bit for promoting body positivity. But does it work? We think so.
