In President Goodluck Jonathan by former President Olusegun Obasanjo is because the President has refused to do Obasanjo’s bidding, Sunday Tribune reports.
Lamido was the minister of foreign affairs in Obasanjo cabinet between 1999 – 2007 and is a strong ally of the Owu-chief.
Sources spoken to by Sunday Tribune also confirmed the development, saying that Jonathan was not favourably disposed to the idea.
“The president could not give Obasanjo any affirmative answer, because he believes that the request was uncalled for,”a source said.
Sources also told Sunday Tribune that Jonathan believes that dropping Sambo would cause more confusion for his camp.
“You don’t try and solve a problem and create another in the process,” the source said, adding that Sambo had worked with Jonathan effectively without any frictions in the duo’s relationship. It will be recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for his handling of the Boko Haram insurgency. He also accused the present administration of being corrupt and ruining the Nigerian economy.
